Change an assignment
An assignment change puts a selected person on duty for a defined interval. It takes effect when saved, without waiting for that person to accept.
You need: permission to edit duty on a native rotation and an eligible replacement member.
Assign a replacement
Section titled “Assign a replacement”- In the dashboard, select a shift in My shifts or the rotation’s Plan.
- Select Change assignment.
- Choose Assigned person and the interval. Use Full turn or Remaining turn when offered, or choose Custom interval and set Start date, End date, From and Until.
- Compare Proposed assignment with Current plan. Review Assignment checks and any required availability acknowledgement.
- Select Change assignment. The panel closes after saving; check the changed interval in Plan.
Full turn and Remaining turn use the verified turn shown in the plan. Assignment interval uses the displayed interval when a full or remaining turn cannot be identified. A saved assignment without a recorded turn selection opens with Custom interval. Check the dates before saving.
An open-ended shift needs a finite end for the replacement. Times follow the selected time zone. If a local time occurs twice when daylight saving time ends, choose First occurrence or Second occurrence.
Availability checks cover manual absences, applicable Google Calendar events and unknown availability. If Existing assignment blocks the change, edit or restore that assignment before creating another for the same duty period.
Edit a saved assignment
Section titled “Edit a saved assignment”Under Assignment changes in the rotation’s Plan, select Change assignment on the saved record. Choose a different Assigned person, then review the interval and proposed assignment. Select Change assignment to save. The action stays disabled while the saved person is selected. Use the separate Restore schedule action to return remaining duty to the schedule.
Restore scheduled duty
Section titled “Restore scheduled duty”- Find the saved change under Assignment changes in the rotation’s Plan.
- Select Restore schedule.
- Review Current assignment and Current plan. The returning person follows the current schedule and availability.
- Select Restore schedule. The panel closes after saving; check the returning person in Plan.
Only the remaining interval returns to scheduled duty. Completed duty stays unchanged. Original assignee is a comparison with the saved original, not a guarantee of who returns.
Rotate now advances the schedule without ending an active replacement, accepted cover or swap. It does not change the person chosen for that interval. If the schedule advances during a replacement, Restore schedule can return duty to someone other than the original assignee. Check Current plan before confirming.
